His presence is felt most in Nature, in the quiet mornings, in the beautiful cloud formations, in the flight of the osprey and egrets over the river and especially at Branford Point. It’s at Branford Point, our town beach and beautiful park, where as a little boy, John-Carlo covered himself from head to toe in seaweed and pretended he was a sea monster. It’s where he came to the summer family gatherings, the big ones with grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It’s where he loved a slice of every pie Aunt Jane made, he loved the friendly banter and loved spending a day with family. It’s Branford Point where I plant daffodil bulbs every October since his passing. “The Daffodil Principle” (Google it) is my secretive operation. Each year, I plant hundreds of bulbs in the early mornings of October. They will bloom in the springtime, the season when John-Carlo was born. In his infamous style of jest and humor, I tell onlookers who ask what I am doing as I dig holes and plant bulbs, that I am part of the JC Garden Club…Come back in the spring to see the really BIG show. And in the spring, if the onlookers are asked who did this, it was the JC Garden Club. John-Carlo’s Aunt Pat Forever in our hearts, forever smiling
